The green ring around the iris is a sign of excess copper build up, or copper toxicity, within the body. This can be due to overexposure of copper, and is often seen in older people that have used copper cookware and copper piping for water etc. Although copper is an essential trace mineral, high amounts are toxic and can contribute to many health conditions such as autoimmune disorders.
