Cataracts – Sclerology

Sclerology also looks at particular markings in the iris – Cataracts being one of these signs. More often seen in elderly people, the green copper looking hue that appears within the pupil is often an early indication of cataract formation. If eye and vision symptoms are occurring, it is recommended to see an optometrist for further testing.

Symptoms of cataracts include:

  • Clouded, blurred or dim vision
  • Trouble seeing at night
  • Sensitivity to light and glare
  • Need for brighter light for reading and other activities
  • Seeing “halos” around lights
  • Frequent changes in eyeglass or contact lens prescription
  • Fading or yellowing of colours
  • Double vision in one eye
